Thomas F. Calpin, Jr., 74, of Dunmore, died Sunday morning in Hospice Community Care, Dunmore.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Thomas F. Sr. and Mae Verrastro Calpin and was a graduate of Scranton Preparatory School and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Scranton and attended graduate school at the University of Buffalo and East Stroudsburg University. He worked as a school teacher in many local school districts.
He was active in local sports and umpired for various baseball leagues. He was a kind person who cared greatly about the well-being of friends, family and the community. The family wishes to thank the many doctors, nurses and caregivers during Thomas's courageous battle with cancer.
Surviving are a brother, Francis T., and wife Beth, Shavertown; a nephew, Tommy, and niece, Terri; several cousins.
The funeral will be today from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Chestnut St., Dunmore.
Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery.
