Adam E. Onzik of Towson, Md., died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 9, 2013.
He was born in Kingston on Sept. 19, 1984, a son of Edward P. and Mary Ann Kupstas Onzik of Shavertown.
Adam was a 2003 graduate of Bishop O' Reilly High School and 2007 graduate of Loyola College in Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in political science and a minor in business administration.
He was employed by Travelers Insurance Co. as a liability adjuster and was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Shavertown.
A passionate outdoorsman, Adam was a consummate hiker and backpacker, having conquered some of the most challenging terrain in the nation, including adventures in Rocky Mountain National Park, the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park and the Presidential Peaks of New Hampshire.
Adam was a friend to all and shared his wit, enthusiasm and energy with everyone he touched.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Ann Onzik, Washington, D.C.; loving companion, Karen Starliper; his faithful dog, Samson; paternal grandmother, Antoinette Onzik, Dallas; numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Monday in St. Theresa's Church, 64 Davis St., Shavertown. Interment will be private in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Shavertown. Family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
A memorial service will be held in the Baltimore area at a time and place to be determined.
