Ann C. Ritchey, 97, formerly of Barney Street, Wilkes-Barre, and a resident of Hampton House, Hanover Township, for the past several years, passed away Saturday morning.
Ann was born in Connellsville, Pa., on Nov. 10, 1915. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Amelia Swankler.
Ann had practical nurse training and was employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry for many years.
Ann was preceded in death by sisters, Matilda Torbik, Virginia Niemenski and Freda McDermott; her beloved best friend and life-long companion, Henry Kurello, who died April 23, 2013.
Surviving are a daughter, Penny A. Davis; grandchildren, Robert, Drew and Jeffery Davis;, five great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, Areyanna, and also numerous nieces and nephews of the Torbik and the Niemenski families.
Funeral services for Ann will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley. A Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church, Barney and Division streets, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be held at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Saint Robert Bellarmine Parish building fund.
