Augustine F. "Augie" DeGennaro

Augustine "Augie" F. DeGennaro, 61, of Heather Highlands, Jenkins Township, passed away Thursday morning, February 10, 2011, in Hospice Community Care, Wilkes-Barre. He and his wife, Antoinette Montalbano DeGennaro, celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on March 28, 2010. Born in Delaware, he was a son of the late Frank and Margaret Ramaglia DeGennaro. He was a graduate of Massapequa High School, New York, and received his college education while in the service. Augustine was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was formerly employed by Local 580 Iron Workers, New York City, N.Y., and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. Augie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be dearly missed by all who loved him. He was preceded in death by a brother Carl DeGennaro. Augie is also survived by sons, Paul DeGennaro and Robert Faso, both of Pittston; daughter, Sharon DeGennaro, Florida; brother Nicholas DeGennaro, Safety Harbor, Fla.; four grandchildren and one on the way to be born in June; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William St., Pittston. Relatives and friends may pay their respects during a celebration of Augustine's life from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Baloga Funeral Home Inc., 1201 Main St., Pittston (Port Griffith).
