Betty A. Bogdan, 71, of Railroad Street, Glen Lyon section of Newport Township, passed away late Sunday evening, Nov. 11, 2012 at Kingston Commons following a long period of failing health.

Born on April 10, 1941 in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Beatrice Howard Turner. She attended the Newport Township schools and early in life was employed by Heavenly Shoe Company, Wilkes-Barre.

She was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish and Holy Trinity Church prior to the consolidation of the parishes. Her main interest in life was caring for her home and family. She especially enjoyed time spent caring for her grandson, Devin.

She will be remembered as being critical of no one and a friend to everyone.

She was preceded in death by brothers, John and Nick Turner.

Surviving is her husband of 53 years, Leon R. Bogdan; a son, Leon R. Bogdan Jr. and his wife Crystal, Glen Lyon; grandsons, Devin Bogdan and David Angradi; brothers, Ralph Turner, N.J., and Frank Turner, Glen Lyon; sisters, Daisy Gregory, CT, Ruth Soley, Plymouth Township, and Mary Schwartz, Glen Lyon; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will begin Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 East Broad Street, Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Faustina Kowalska Parish/Holy Trinity Church, 520 South Hanover Street, Nanticoke, with the Rev. Raymond Deviney as celebrant.

Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
