Celia C. Celli, 89, formerly of Mocanaqua, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, in Conestoga View Nursing and Rehabilitation Home, Lancaster.
Born August 2, 1923, in Mocanaqua, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Clara (Serafini) Orazi. She was a graduate of the former Shickshinny High School. She worked in the former Kersteter Silk Mill and retired from the former Country Cousins shoe factory, both in Mocanaqua. She had lived in Lancaster since 2008. She was a past member of Holy Spirit Parish/St. Mary's Church, Mocanaqua. When she moved to Lancaster, she became a member of historic St. Mary's Church, Lancaster.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Celli, who died April 24, 2008; brothers Ernest and Nello Orazi; and a sister, Eva Valentino.
Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, John Celli and his wife, Sandra, Landisville, Pa.; grandchildren, Emily Hurst and Christopher Celli; step-grandchildren, Jason Kennedy and Heather Mayers; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Orazi and Quinta Orazi, both of Wilkes-Barre; niece, Sharon Pieri; and two nephews, David and Charles Celli.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Mayo Funeral Home Inc., 77 N. Main St., Shickshinny, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish/St. Mary's Church, Mocanaqua, with her pastor, the Rev. Donald Williams, as celebrant. Burial will be in the Italian Cemetery, Glen Lyon. Visitation will be Tuesday morning from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
