Chester "Chet" Peter Valenia gently passed away on Nov. 2, 2012, in Jacksonville, Fla. At his beside were his daughter, Anna Rose "Anney" and son-in-law, Dr. Brian Armitage.

He was born in Nanticoke Hospital on Nov. 15, 1920, to Stanley and Rose \/alenia. A precocious child, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) at the tender age of 15. As a result, the life lessons he learned prepared him for his tour of duty in the Army with the Military Police during World War II. He took pride in his service to his country. Whether he was escorting General Patton or raiding a brothel, he rode his Harley proudly throughout Europe. Upon discharge, Chet met and married the woman of his dreams, Elizabeth "Betty" Ustupski. No matter what job he held or task he performed, he strove to do his very best because he was "Chet." During Chet's 91 years on this earth, he never met an enemy.

Whether he was working out at the Odyssey, having dinner at Outback, watching a performance of Cirque du Soleil or swimming with the dolphins, Chet embraced life to the fullest. He had the unique gift of listening and saying just the right thing. His laughter was contagious and his heart was full of love.

A private Celebration of Chet's Life was held over Thanksgiving in Jacksonville, Fla.
