HUNLOCK CREEK — Daryl Henry Dow, 60, of Hunlock Creek, died unexpectedly on July 9, 2014, at his mother's home in Kingston.

He was born in Martinez, California, on March 26, 1954, a son of Jean (Pokorny) Dow and the late Clarence Elmer Dow.

Daryl graduated from Sacred Heart School, Luzerne, and Central Catholic High School, Kingston, with the class of 1972. Daryl also attend King's College and proudly served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam era. During his service, he worked as a jet mechanic and served in the Philippines and Japan. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

He was currently employed by Solid Cactus, Hazleton. Previously he was employed and enjoyed a long career as the general manager at many propane companies including Summit Propane, Suburban Propane and Star Gas.

He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Hunlock Creek. He was also member of VFW Post 283.

Daryl's greatest joy in life was being a loving father to his four children. Known for his warm smile and contagious laugh, Daryl made many friendships during his life.

Survivng are his mother, Jean (Pokorny) Dow, Kingston; his wife of 28 years, Carol (Jones) Dow; son, Joshua Clarence Dow, Hunlock Creek; daughters, Amanda White and her husband, Al, Klingers, Pennsylvania, Katelyn and Maggie Dow, both of Hunlock Creek; brothers, Clarence Hugh Dow, Kingston, Ron Dow, West Bend, Wisconsin; sisters, Charlene Giza, Bear Creek, Gayle Sekel, Harding, Corene Dow, Kingston; granddaughter, Ruby White; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Benedict Parish, Wilkes-Barre, with Father Joseph A. Kearney officiating. Friends and family may call from 8:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made in Daryl's memory to the VFW Post 283, Kingston.
