David A. Dzurek

David A. Dzurek, 53, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday afternoon, Jan. 14, 2013, at his residence.

Born on Nov. 30, 1959 in Swoyersville, David was a son of the late John Dzurek Sr. and Rita (Boback) Dzurek.

Raised in Swoyersville, David attended the former Holy Trinity Grade School, Swoyersville, and was a graduate of West Side Area Vo-Tech, Pringle.

David began working as a teenager in his family's business and then moved on to working for the former Sunshine Markets. Later, he was employed at the Cross Dock for the Office Depot, Mountain Top, until his disabilities left him unable to work.

A man of faith, David was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville. Additionally, he was a Third-Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Assumpta Council 3987, Luzerne, where he was involved with the Singing Knights.

David had a great love for the outdoors and took great enjoyment in hiking, hunting, fishing and, of course, golfing when he was able.

In addition to his parents, John Dzurek Sr. and Rita Dzurek, David was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Muller, who passed away on Dec. 25, 2012.

David is survived by his brothers, John Dzurek Jr. and his wife, Jackie, of Swoyersville, and Gerald Dzurek and his wife, Alana, of Calif.; his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, which will be conducted on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Wroblewski Funeral Home Inc., 1442 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes St., Swoyersville, with the Rev. Joseph J. Pisaneschi, his Pastor, officiating. Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.

Family and Friends are invited to call from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The members of the Knights of Columbus, Assumpta Council 3987 will recite the Rosary on Friday at 6:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
