David Stankoski Obituary

October 21, 2009

David A. Stankoski, 48, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009, in Highland Manor, Exeter. David was born in Wilkes-Barre, on December 6, 1960, to Edward A. and Florence (Menn) Stankoski of Exeter and formerly of West Pittston. David graduated from Wyoming Area High School in 1978. He received a degree from Luzerne County Community College in culinary arts. He was employed for many years in the food service industry, first starting as kitchen staff at Buck Hill Fall Resort, and then working for many years for various hotel chains, such as Hilton and Marriot, and then as a sous chef and later head chef at numerous restaurants throughout the United States. Physical illnesses and handicaps limited his culinary career, and he was only sporadically employed over the last few years. In addition to his mother and father, he is survived by brother Dr. John Stankoski and his wife, Susan, of Pittston; niece Nicole; nephews John Jr. and Michael; and brother Edward A. Stankoski Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of York; nephew Anthony and his wife, Nicole, and their daughter, Lily; nephew Dean. David was fiercely devoted to his dogs, Brindy and Boo-Boo, and only reluctantly gave them up to new homes when his physical limitations required that he do so. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be private. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in West Pittston Cemetery. Memorial donations in David's name may be made to the Luzerne County SPCA, 524 E. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702, or to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are entrusted to the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 802 Susquehanna Avenue, West Pittston. Online condolences may be made at www.peterjadoniziofuneralhome.com .
