Doris M. Tonkin, 77, of Luzerne, passed away on Monday at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Luzerne, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Franklin Grady. Prior to her retirement, she was a sewing machine operator at Master Garment Co. in Kingston. She was a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne. She loved her grandchildren and bingo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Tonkin, Sr.; brothers, George Grady and Leo Grady; sisters, Joan Tonkin and Elizabeth Amos.
Surviving are her children, Albert Tonkin Jr., Dorothy Tonkin, Thomas Tonkin, Richard Tonkin, all of Luzerne; grandchildren, Zachary Tonkin, Noah Tonkin, Ashley Tonkin; sister, Anna Mae Sundquiest of Lake Charles, La.; her dogs, Joey, Tinker, Bear, Angel, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Betz - Jastremski Funeral Home Inc., 568 Bennett St., Luzerne, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, with the Rev. Michael Zipay officiating. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas. Viewing will be 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
