DALLAS — Dorothea "Dottie" W. Henry, 82, of Dallas, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Aurora, Illinois, Dottie was a daughter of the late Eduard and Eleonora Mohr Wichmann. She was a graduate of Wauwatosa High School, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, and Ripon College, Ripon, Wisconsin.

Before moving to the Wyoming Valley in 1960, she was employed as a social worker with the Lutheran Welfare Service, Milwaukee.

Dottie was a member and past president of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Auxiliary as well as a member of Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center Auxiliary and a chairman of the Geisinger Gala. She was a board member and past president of the , Wyoming Valley Unit; sustaining member and past president of the Junior League of Wilkes-Barre; former board member of Heritage House, College Misericordia, and a member of Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania's advisory board. Dottie was a member of the Thursday Club and was active with the Salvation Army.

An avid golfer, Dottie was a member of the Wyoming Valley Country Club and a past women's club champion. She traveled extensively with "The TOADS," Twenty-fifth Overseas Anniversary Delegation, a group of her best friends that traveled the world together.

Dottie was a former Sunday school teacher at St. John's Lutheran Church, Wilkes-Barre, and a board member of Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries. She is a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Dallas, and its choir.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was a sister, Edette Brockman.

Surviving are husband of 58 years, Frank M. Henry, Dallas; daughter, Marjorie H. Marquart, Dallas; sons, Frank M. Henry Jr., Philadelphia, and Scott E. Henry and his wife, MaryJane D. Henry, Shavertown; grandchildren, Brigitte Henry, Scott M. Henry, John Henry and Jane Henry, Samantha Marquart and Olivia Marquart, as well as Lauren Henry, Frank M. Henry III, Kirk Fry, and their mother, Wendy Henry; three nieces and a nephew.

The family thanks Jim Considine for his continued support and care over the last 20 years. They also thank Geisinger Medical Systems.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 474 Yalick Road, Route 118, Dallas. The Rev. Lynn H. Rothrock will officiate. Interment will be made in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
