HANOVER TWP. — Dorothy Zwiebel Farrell, 82, of Hanover Township, died Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Timber Ridge Health Care Center.
Born Aug. 10, 1931, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Theodore W. and Katherine Gwynn Zwiebel.
Dorothy was a member of the class of 1949 of Saint Nicholas High School and graduated from Wyoming Seminary's Dean School of Business.
While she devoted most of her adult life to raising her family, Dorothy was employed by First Eastern Bank and its successor, PNC Bank, for several years before retiring.
Mrs. Farrell was a member of the Parish of Saint Nicholas.
Her husband, Eugene J. Farrell, died Feb. 18, 1988. A brother, Jack Zwiebel, also preceded her in death.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Eugene J. Farrell Jr., Hanover Township, Jack and his wife, Jeanne Farrell, Larksville, and Katherine and her husband, Robert Hines, Mountain Top; grandchildren, Kelley Sherin, Lindsey, Eugene J. III and Marissa Farrell, Ryan and Patrick Farrell and Meghan, Elizabeth and Erin Hines; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Ted and his wife, Catherine Zwiebel, Hanover Township, and Bob Zwiebel, Wilkes-Barre Township; nieces, nephews; other family and friends.
Dorothy's entire family is grateful to the dedicated staff of Timber Ridge and Celtic Hospice for the loving care they shared with her.
Celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from McLaughlin's – The Family Funeral Service, 142 S. Washington St.,Wilkes-Barre, with funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in the Church of Saint Nicholas. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McLaughlin's.
