Edward J. Bryk Sr., 74, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at Sentara Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge, Va., after a courageous fight battling liver cancer. He was surrounded in love by his family, wife Mary Jeanette; brother Joseph and his wife, Ann; Edward's children, Daniel, Edward Jr., Cathy, Jeanette, Amy and Robert; grandchildren Mary Patricia, Vincent Edward and Katelynn Stefania. After 20 years of dedicated service, which included two tours in Vietnam as a combat photographer, he retired to Springville, Pa., and worked as an auto mechanic. A year after losing his wife, Mary T. Waszczak, of 17 years to breast cancer, he moved his children to Dale City, Va., was employed by E-Systems, and met his current wife of 21 years, the former Mary J. Jenkins. He retired from E-Systems (E-Tag) after 10 years of service as a government contractor and moved back to Springville, Pa., where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Mary J. Bryk; his children, Daniel Bryk and his wife, Jeanette Mino, of South Riding, Va.; Edward and wife Amy Bryk, of Manassas, Va.; and Cathy Bryk and future son-in-law Robert Radabaugh, of Manassas, Va.; his three grandchildren, Mary P. Bryk, of Manassas, Va.; brother Joseph Bryk and his wife, Ann, of Toms River, N.J.; sisters Jean Turel of Duryea, and Lottie Nyzio of Avoca; as well as a very large number of nieces and nephews. The family expresses their sincere appreciation to Dr. Hamed Khosravi and staff in Woodbridge, Va., for providing excellent medical care and comfort to Edward during his courageous fight with liver cancer.
