Elizabeth E. Sipple, 76, of Indian Lake in Buck Township, died of a stroke on Tuesday morning, Oct. 23, 2012, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley.
Born May 24, 1936, in the East End section of Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Margaret Hannadel Lippa.
Betty was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, where she was recognized for her academic achievement.
Before retiring, Betty was employed by the Wilkes-Barre Area School District for nearly 30 years.
Betty was a member of the Parish of Saint Elizabeth in Bear Creek. She was active in local politics and served as a Democratic committeewoman in Buck Township for more than 25 years.
A brother, Sylvester Lippa, preceded her in death.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Raymond Sipple; children, Raymond Sipple Jr. and his wife, Ann Marie; Frank Sipple and his wife, Brenda; Ann Marie Brudnicki; James Sipple and his wife, Denise; Kathleen Sipple and her partner, Elsie; Joseph Sipple and his wife, Ann; grandchildren, Raymond III, Grace, Renee, Frank Jr., Jacob, Erin, P.J., Holly, Melissa, Nicole, James Jr., Matthew, Joseph Jr., Brittany; great-grandchildren, Raymond IV, Cassie, Amy, Kylee, Aiden, Alexis, Ashli Nicole, Taylor Leigh, Megan, Raeonna; sisters, Margaret Sterbinsky, Theresa DiFranseco; other family and friends.
Celebration of Betty's Life will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from McLaughlin's - The Family Funeral Service, 142 S. Washington St. in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Elizabeth. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Visitation will be held at McLaughlin's today from 4 to 8 p.m.
