Elizabeth J. Bolen

EDWARDSVILLE — Elizabeth J. Bolen, 94, of Edwardsville, passed away on July 9, 2018, at ManorCare, Kingston. She was born to the late Charles and Elizabeth (Bessie) Stull on Oct. 30, 1923. Elizabeth (Betty) was also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Merle L. Bolen; and her brother and sisters, Carol Ditto, Charles Stull and Charlotte Murray.

A graduate of Edwardsville High School, Class of 1941, Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Bette Lee, and her husband, Philip Devers, of Hunlock Creek; and her three granddaughters, Megan (Philip) Diliberto, Erin and Lauren Devers; along with her two honorary granddaughters, Missy and Morgan, who will miss their Nanny terribly.

Aunt Betty will be remembered by several nieces and nephews and their extended families.

Betty was a life-time member of the Dr. Edwards Memorial Congregational Church, Edwardsville, where she sang in the choir for 75 years. She was also a member of the Missionary Club and Eisteddfod Committee. Betty faithfully served as a Sunday school and Bible school teacher in her younger years. During baseball season, she would root and cheer for her favorite team, the Philadelphia Phillies. When football season started, it was Penn State football every Saturday. She was an avid and devoted fan.

Mom, Nanny, Aunt, friend, however Betty was known, she was deeply loved and will remain alive in our hearts forever.

Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, at the Dr. Edwards Memorial Congregational Church, Edwardsville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 13, at the church, with Pastor Shawn Walker officiating.

Arrangements have been made by Kielty-Moran Funeral Home, Plymouth.
