NANTICOKE — Elizabeth J. "Betty" Gotcha, 87, of Nanticoke, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2014, at home.
She was born in Kingston, on July 29, 1926, and was a daughter of the late Russell Armstrong and Helen Betcher Parsons. She was graduate of Kingston High School.
Elizabeth was director of the Nanticoke Senior Citizens Center, employed by the Bureau of the Aging and after retirement she became a ceramic instructor at the center.
She was also a member of the Red Hat Ladies and was a member of RSVP.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her first husband, Francis Cooney; three infant grandsons, Brian, Gary and Matthew; brothers, Bob Betcher and Ralph Parsons.
She is presently survived by her second husband of 37 years, Andrew, sons, Francis and his wife, Helen Mary Cooney, Ridley Park, Brian and his wife Rose Cooney, Ashley, Shawn and his wife, Gale Cooney, Nanticoke; daughters, Bonnie and her husband, Ken Lazar, Mountain Top, Eileen and her husband, Charles Molecavage, Glen Lyon, Bridget Negroni, Mountain Top, Mary Farrell, Ashley; brother, Arthur and his wife, Claire Parsons, Dallas; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday from the Grontkowski Funeral Home P.C., 51 W. Green St., Nanticoke, with David Pegarella, pastor, officiating. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Nanticoke Christian Fellowship Church, Prospect Street, Nanticoke, followed by interment in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Glen Lyon. Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
