Florence E. Matley, 92, formerly of Kingston, died peacefully Wednesday morning, September 5, 2012, at the Mercy Center Skilled Nursing Unit, Dallas.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Dubinski Yatsko, and was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School, class of 1936.
Florence lived most of her life in Kingston, and was employed for many years in the local garment industry as a proud member of the ILGWU.
She was a longtime member of St. Mary's Annunciation Church, Kingston, until its closing, and since then was a member of St. Ignatius Church, Kingston.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A. Matley, in 1976; brothers, John, Leonard, Joseph, Edward; and sister, Margaret Dwojeski.
Florence is survived by her sons, Edward Matley and his wife, Rose, South Windsor, Conn.; Robert Matley and his wife, Trudy, Dallas; daughter, Susan Hritzak, Forty Fort; six grandchildren, John Matley and his wife, Tracy; Karen Murray and her husband, Kevin; Jill Pearsall and her husband, George; Stephanie Matley; Danielle Hritzak; Brian Hritzak; two great-grandsons, Tyler and Brayden Pearsall.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Kopicki Funeral Home, 263 Zerbey Ave., Kingston, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Ignatius Church, Kingston. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
