Frances (Frannie) A. Newman, age 81, of Forty Fort, died suddenly on Thanksgiving Day surrounded by her family at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
She was born in Wilkes-Barre, daughter of the late William and Molly Ford Bromfield. She is a graduate of GAR High School and attended Wilkes-Barre Business College.
Frannie was employed as a bookkeeper for Signal Finance and Van Scoy International. Following her retirement, she worked a number of years for Bon-Ton.
She has resided in Forty Fort the past 56 years.
Frannie lived her life to be with her family.
She was a member of the Forty Fort United Methodist Church.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were daughter Mollie A. Newman; husband, William I. Newman; and brother, Thomas G. Bromfield.
Surviving are daughters Sally Van Scoy, Larksville; Amy Fry and husband Ronald, Larksville; grandchildren, Tiffany Kuhar and husband Chris, Kristen Battista and husband Todd, Tony Van Scoy Jr., Tyler Van Scoy, Dylan Fry, Sydney Newman Fry; great-grandchildren, Logan, Jackson, Mollie and Hannah Kuhar.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. from the Harold C. Snowdon Home for Funerals Inc., 420 Wyoming Ave., Kingston. The Rev. Roger E. Griffith will officiate. Interment will be held in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.
