Frances B. VanLuvender, 68, a resident of Kingston and formerly of Plymouth, passed away Friday evening at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.

She was born in Manhattan, N.Y, on Nov. 1, 1944, a daughter of the late Robert Harvey and Frances M. Klesseraht Malcolm. She attended and was a graduate of the New York City public school system. Frances and her husband, Robert, and family traveled the world extensively during his long military service while in the U.S. Marines Corps. Upon returning to the local area she had been employed for many years by the Lord & Taylor Distribution Center, Wilkes-Barre Township.
Mrs. VanLuvender was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. She always was an extremely strong woman who cherished her children and grandchildren. She was truly a genuine and constantly loving woman who always put the needs of others before those of herself. Her humor was as big as her heart and she always greeted you with a smile on her face.
She has been preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Robert J. VanLuvender, and by her granddaughter Kira M. Turcotte. Also she was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Wright, and by her stepfather, William J. Dzubiak.
Surviving are her children, John Dzubiak, Plymouth; Frances Banash, Tigard, Ore., and Wendy Turcotte and her husband, Chris, Kingston, with whom she resided; grandchildren, Kurisu and Koji Turcotte; Anjalene, Yasmene and William Banash; Nicole and Anthony Dzubiak; sisters, Beverly and Elsie Malcolm, Floral Park, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 8:45 a.m. Thursday at the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 9:30 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William St., Pittston, with Msgr. John J. Bendick as celebrant. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Harding. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
