Frances M. Stein

Frances M. Stein, of Ashley Street, Ashley, Pa., passed away on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, Pa.

Frances was born in Binghamton, N.Y., on September 14, 1942, the daughter of Christine (Torcasso) Pisaneschi and the late Horatio Pisaneschi. She moved with her family to the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, and was a graduate of Coughlin High School, class of 1960.

After her marriage, she moved to Ashley where she resided for the remainder of her life. Frances was a partner in Lark Mountain Marketplace Antiques and Collectables located in Wilkes-Barre Township. She and her daughter, Sandy Kultys, and their partner Barbara Conover were proud to turn their hobby of antiquing into a business. Frances also worked for many years for Luzerne County Human Resources Development Department as an Intake Specialist. Prior to her retirement, Frances served as President of Local 1398 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).

Frances was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Frances and her husband, Will, celebrated 50 years of marriage in May.

In addition to her husband, Willard, at home, she is survived by daughters, Deborah Manahan, and her husband, Glenn, Sandra Kultys, and her husband, Joseph and Nancy Walmsley, and her husband, Daniel, all of Ashley, Pa; beloved grandchildren, Aimee and Katie Manahan, Johanna and Daniel Kultys and Daniel and Marlena Walmsley. Also surviving is her mother, Christine Pisaneschi; brother, Vincent Pisaneschi, and his wife, Shirley; sisters, Nancy Neubauer, and her companion, Phil Siana, Janet Pekar, and her husband, Richard Tomcavage; sister-in-law, Jane Matulewski and her husband, Ed; aunts and uncles, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. from the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley, with the Rev. Carol Coleman officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call on Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m.
