Frank A. Pientka Jr.

Frank Anthony Pientka Jr., 82, of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012.

He was the husband of the late Jean R. (Leonardi) Pientka and eldest child of the late Frank A. Pientka Sr. and the late Evelyn (Timek) Pientka.

Born May 27, 1930, in Plains Township, Frank emigrated to Canada 1971 to pursue his life-long passion of fishing. He worked as a fireman for Reading Railroad and an engineer for New Hope and Ivyland Railroad before working as an award-winning car salesman in both the United States and Canada.

Frank was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, where he served in the 21st Troop Carrier Squadron, known as the "Kyushu Gypsies," with the 374th Troop Carrier Wing in Japan.

Frank is survived by two daughters, Mary (Pientka) Henninger of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; Ellen (Pientka) Scott of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; three grandchildren, Jill (Henninger) Burks of Cambridge, N.Y.; Daniel Alain Courtemanche of Oslo, Norway; Gretchen Henninger of New York, N.Y.; and two great-grandchildren, Ella Dana Courtemanche and Gabriel Leon Courtemanche. Frank is also survived by a sister, Rose (Pientka) Wickkiser of Ohio, and a brother, Thomas Pientka of Vermont.

A memorial service and Mass will be held in spring when his ashes are returned to Pennsylvania.
