She was born on June 6, 1913 in Preston, Pa. to the late John and Catherine Carlin. She married Michael A. Gallagher on June 17, 1939 in Ashley. He predeceased her on Nov. 19, 1996.

She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Erin Gallagher Lauer of Littleton, Colo.; Shannon Horvath of North Arlington, N.J.; Michael R. Despite leaving school at an early age, she instilled the value of education and knowledge in her family. Helen loved reading, old movies, especially westerns, and all things Irish. She will be greatly missed by all, but we are thankful for almost 100 years of love and care.

The Funeral Liturgy and Rite of Committal will take place at 11 a.m. today at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Bay City, Mich. The celebrant will be the Rev. Fr. Craig L. Albrecht. Mrs. Gallagher will lie in state at the church today from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Graveside services will take place Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Ronald McDonald House of Ann Arbor, Mich., or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
