FORTY FORT — Irvin Rush Lamoreux, 90, of Stillwater, Huntington Township, passed away Monday, July 9, 2018, at Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-Barre.

Born June 26, 1928, in Forty Fort, he was a son of the late Rush and Elizabeth (Lyons) Lamoreux.

A veteran of World War II, he proudly served as a seaman with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Cleveland and USS Langley. He earned the WWII Victory, American Theater and Good Conduct medals.

Following his honorable discharge in 1949, he came home to live in the Back Mountain and worked for Linear in Dallas. He later worked many years and retired from Owens-Illinois, becoming Techneglas, where he was a valuable employee who was chosen to travel to Japan and Korea to teach his skills of mechanics to others.

Irvin made his home in Stillwater for the past 40 years on his beloved land where he built his own house. He loved fly fishing and hunting from his chicken coop, traveling and genealogy, tracing the Lamoreux lineage back to the 1600s. He was a member of , Berwick.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gerald Lamoreux; brothers Donald, Jack and Doug Lamoreux; a sister, Audrey Lord; and his first wife, Betty Policare.

Surviving are his wife, Faye (Brown) Kelly Lamoreux; daughters: Linda Barber (Gary), of Chattanooga, Tenn., Barbara Duplar (Michael), of Philadelphia, Susan Cerreta (Frank), of Hanover Township, Robin Lamoreux, of Lake Silkworth, and Lisa Urbanski (Jeff), of Harveys Lake; grandchildren Lori, Tracie, Jill, Heather, Erica, Jessica, Vinny, Niki, Kristy, Tyler, Miriam, Xan, Buddy, Shirley Ann, Shawn and Shannon; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great grandson, Knox; sisters Eileen Sichler (John), of Beaumont, and Wilda Norton, of Kunkle; and many nieces and nephews. He will be enormously missed by his "favorite daughter" and caregiver, Susie – Abba dabba do!

A funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday from Clarke Piatt Funeral Home Inc., 6 Sunset Lake Road, Hunlock Creek, with Bishop William Allen officiating.

Please join Irvin's family for a viewing and celebration of his life from 5 p.m. until time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in Mr. Lamoreux's memory be made to Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge, Dallas, or to the SPCA.
