ASHLEY — James J. Alba, 38, of Ashley, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at his home.
He was born in Kingston, son of Samuel Alba, Forty Fort, and the late Mary Stephens Alba. He attended the Pittston public schools and graduated from the Pittston Area High School. He also attended the University of Pittsburgh and was a graduate of Marywood University. He had also received a LPN degree from the Luzerne County Community College and was currently employed by Penn Foster, Scranton. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Swoyersville.
James enjoyed his many years playing guitar with his band, Nowhere Slow. He enjoyed going to Pittsburgh Pirates games with his dad and enjoyed listening to the music of John Mayer and Dave Matthews while relaxing with his dog, Nemo.
He will be deeply missed by aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. In addition to his father, he is survived by his stepmother, Barbara Alba, Forty Fort, and his grandmother Mary Alba, Pittston.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather James Alba.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Wednesday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 116 Hughes St., Swoyersville, by the Rev. Joseph Pisaneschi. Friends may call 11 a.m. to noon at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA, Plains. The Lokuta-Zawacki Funeral Home, Dupont, is in charge of arrangements.
