John J. Flynn, 66, of Fairfax, Va., passed away Sunday after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Anna Buikus Flynn and John Francis Flynn, both of Wilkes-Barre.
Jack graduated from GAR High School in 1964 and Wilkes University in 1971, and was a veteran.
Jack was a speechwriter for the US Department of Housing and Urban Development and a docent at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. He enjoyed writing, reading, music, and his cats.
Jack is survived by siblings, Faith Flynn McDevitt, Las Vegas; Nancy Flynn Corbitt (Charles), Florida; Jacqueline Gaggero (Ronald), San Francisco; and Carl Havira (Betsy), Wilkes-Barre; aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received 10 a.m. Saturday at the Gathering Center of St. Aloysius Church, 223 Beech St., Pottstown. Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m.
