John Thomas "Jack" Walsh, 80, of Briar Creek Township, died Sunday at the Geisinger Medical Center, in Danville.
He was born Dec. 17, 1932 in Pittston, a son to the late Thomas and Mary (Sweeney) Walsh. Jack served in the U.S. Navy as an electrician aboard the USS Des Moines. He retired as vice president of manufacturing at Altadis, the former Consolidated Cigar Company.
As well as his parents, he was preceded in death by grandson, Jeremy Walsh; brothers, Thomas, Joseph, Frank and Jerry Walsh; sisters, Marie Simmons, Jean Soska, and Juan Tigue.
Surviving Jack are his loving wife of 58 years, Josephine Tina (Saito) Walsh; daughter, Deborah Kromer, Berwick; son, John T. Walsh Jr., husband of Maria, Berwick; grandsons, Larry Hook, Hanover, John T. Walsh III, Joshua Walsh, and Leroy Kromer; granddaughter, Angel Kromer; two great-grandsons, all of Berwick; and sister, Betty McAndrew, Carbondale.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Church, 721 Monroe St., Berwick., the Rev. Dennis G. Dalessandro will officiate. Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery.
