MOUNTAIN TOP — Katherine M. Panzitta, 86, of Mountain Top, passed away peacefully in the arms of family on May 15, 2018, after a 10-month battle with kidney disease. She is predeceased by parents Adam and Stacia Urban, of Mountain Top, and her late husband, Joseph Kapral, of Askam, Pa.

Katherine was a 1952 graduate of Kings County Hospital Center Nursing Program. She received a bachelor's degree from Wilkes College and a master's degree from the University of Scranton. Natural healing and education were her passion. She devoted her life to the health care profession and her community through her many years of service with the Keystone Job Corps.

Katherine was an active member of Mountain Top on the Move and the Sons of Italy. She loved listening to classical music, knitting, crocheting and building puzzles.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 55 years, Attilio Panzitta; four children: Deborah Pace (Ralph), Gary Kapral (Rosemary), Saveria Saunders (Christopher) and Salvatore Panzitta (Elaine); seven grandchildren: Gary Kapral (Amy), Keith (Aleena), Spencer, Lance (Shaquilla), Elizabeth Interlicchio (Tom), Gabriella Panzitta and Adam Saunders; four great-grandchildren: Gary Kapral, Christopher Kapral, Aria Kapral and Emeric Kapral; three sisters: Emilia Kramer, Eleanor Ciesla and Leona Monahan; and a brother, Frank Urban.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2018, at Desiderio Funeral Home, 436 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Jude Catholic Church, Mountain Top. Interment will follow at RC Calvary Cemetery.
