Lillian Yurish, of Bear Creek, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2013.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Zini Ellis. A graduate of GAR Memorial High School, she worked in the garment industry for the better part of 20 years.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt to all of her closest family members.
Lillian loved to travel with her husband, John, throughout the United States until his passing in 2009. She enjoyed trips to Atlantic City with her husband, daughter, sisters and friends.
She was a member of St. Anthony/St. George Maronite Church, Wilkes-Barre, and was active in the Knights of Lebanon Ladies Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Leo and Steven Ellis; sisters, Sarah Nackley, Bessie Sam, Esther Sam, Bertha Shiner and Ann Slavish.
Lillian is survived by her daughter, Georgette, and husband, James Austin; grandson, Mathew, who was the light of her eye and upon whom she doted with all of the love in her heart; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Mamary-Durkin Funeral Service, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre, with funeral Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony Maronite Church, Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
