Margaret Eleanor Hughes, 15, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Monday morning, Oct. 15, 2012, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
She was an adored daughter of Russell Hughes and Joan Heilbron and step-father, Donald Heilbron. She was born in Wilkes-Barre, March 6, 1997, in Mercy Hospital. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Wilkes-Barre. She enjoyed helping others through her many volunteer activities. She was a Girl Scout and enjoyed learning things for badges and had many friends from Scouting. She was pursuing a career in cosmetology at Wilkes-Barre Area Vo-Tech. She also attended Coughlin High School.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, Russell, Joan and Donald, are her Uncle Jack and Aunt Betty. Surviving in Delaware, Grandmother Eleanor Reilly Hughes, formerly of Wilkes-Barre; Aunt Mary Ellen Barratt; cousins, Reilly, Emily and Logan Barratt; Aunt Terri and Uncle Adam Davis; in Florida, Aunt Patricia Cordrey, and Cousin Maxwell Miller; in Georgia, Aunt Betsy Cordrey and Uncle Robert Cordrey; in Texas, Aunt Sarah and Uncle Richard Hughes; cousins, Allison, Erin, Jordan and Emma Hughes; in Ohio, Uncle Tom and Aunt Debbie Hughes.
Funeral will be held at noon Saturday at the Desiderio Funeral Home Inc., 679 Carey Ave., Wilkes-Barre. A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. Robert Zawickey, of the First Presbyterian Church of Wilkes-Barre, officiating. Friends may call from noon until time of service.
The family kindly requests that floral arrangements are omitted and memorial donations are made instead to SPCA of Luzerne County, Fox Hill Road, Plains, where Margaret volunteered.
