Mary Grace Forlenza, 88, a resident of the Anderson Personal Care Center at Wesley Village, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born in Pittston on Sept. 7, 1925, and raised in West Pittston, she was a daughter of the late Pasquale and Mary Grace Fonzo DeGennaro.
She was a graduate of West Pittston High School. She was a member of St. Joseph Marello Parish and its Altar and Rosary Society, where she served as a past president. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert V. Forlenza, in April 2008; brothers, Joseph, Louis, Patrick and Anthony DeGennaro; and sisters, Arlene Cersa, Amelia Dellarte and Regina Brosso.
Surviving are her son, Vito A. Forlenza, and his wife, Marie, Hughestown; grandchildren, A. Michael Forlenza and his wife, Claudia, San Diego; Vito Forlenza and his wife, Jamie, Holland, Pa.; and Kristin Vernisi and her husband, Pat, Audubon, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Isabella and Olivia Forlenza, and Luca Vernisi; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the staff of Wesley Village and the Anderson Personal Care Center as well as to Dr. James Bruno for the excellent care they provided to Mary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William St., Pittston. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church on Saturday morning. Interment will follow in West Pittston Cemetery. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 251 William St., Pittston.
