SHAVERTOWN — Mary Parsons Pikul, 60, of Shavertown, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at her home.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Asa Dale and Donna Parsons of Trucksville. Mary was a graduate of Dallas Area High School, class of 1971.
She was employed for 43 years with Luzerne County. She started working right out of high school as a secretary with Magistrate Frederick Anderson in Shavertown. In 1973, she transferred to Dallas to work with Judge Leonard Harvey as his administrative assistant. After Judge Harvey's retirement in 1985, Mary transferred to Kingston to work with Judge Richard Adams. In 1988, Paul J. Roberts Jr. was elected Magisterial District Judge and Mary continued to work with him. She was appointed as district judge staff supervisor by President Judge Joseph Augello in 1998. She was also a member of AFSCME Union.
She will be deeply missed by her family.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was her sister, Janet.
Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Chris Ricciardi, Malvern; companion, Richard "Dick" Streever, with whom she resided; sisters, Joan Howell, Elkton, Maryland, Anne Parsons, Philadelphia, Barbara Keeney, Wyalusing, Margaret Beakley, Carverton, Katherine O'Donnell, Trucksville, Susan Bednar, Dallas, and Amy Budd, Dallas; brothers, Walter Parsons, Dallas, Edwin Parsons, Acme, Thomas Parsons, Ligonier, David Parsons, Wyalusing, and Pat Parsons, Wyalusing; many nieces and nephews.
Mary's family thanks Dick Streever and the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their compassionate care.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to support ALS research through the ALS Association, www.alsa.org/donate.

Dear Jamie,
I have such fond memories of your Mom and how she was always there to help with the Brownies and Girl Scouts, and how much fun we had cheering at a all the GOH girls' basketball games. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and all your family.
