Mildred Sherman Myers

SCRANTON — Mildred Sherman Myers, of Scranton, died early Thursday, May 8, 2014, at home. She was the wife of the late Samuel Myers, who died in 1988.

Born in Wilkes-Barre and raised in Kingston, a daughter of the late Edward and Mary Spizer Sherman, she was a graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1947.

A member of Beth Shalom Congregation, she served on its board of directors, was a member of its sisterhood and was honored as its Co-Mother of the Year. She was also a member of the Jewish Home Auxiliary and its board, the Jewish Community Center Senior Adult Club and its board, AMIT Women, the Jewish War Veterans Women's Auxiliary and a lifetime member of Hadassah.

A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, Mildred will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by brothers Leon and Austin Sherman.

Surviving are a daughter, Rochelle Myers; a son, Mark Myers, and his wife, Penny; grandchildren, Samuel and Tova Myers; a brother, Daniel Sherman; and two nephews.

The funeral will be noon Friday in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with services by Rabbi Dovid Saks of the Jewish Heritage Connection. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery. Friends will be received during Shiva from 1 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday at 550 Clay Ave., Apt. 8D, Scranton.
