1935 - 2018 Obituary Condolences

WILKES-BARRE — Myron W. Yencha, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

He was born Sept. 24, 1935, a son of the late John and Mary Stanko Yencha. A 1953 graduate of Coughlin High School, he also graduated from King's College with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He received a master's in business administration from the University of Scranton and graduated from the Graduate School of Trusts, Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill. Prior to retiring, Myron was employed at PNC Bank as vice president of the trust department.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the Plains American Legion, Joseph E. Conlon Post 558; a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Hafey Council; and a member of the Wilkes-Barre Knights of Columbus Council 302. He was an adjunct teacher at Luzerne County Community College and served as an usher and eucharistic minister for many years at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Plains.

A director of the Rotary Club of Wilkes-Barre, he received the Paul Harris Award, and he was the past president of Group III Fiduciaries Association, Pennsylvania Bankers Association. Myron enjoyed hunting and especially walking the course while playing golf. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John (Jack) Yencha and Thomas Jensen.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred (Rudda) Yencha, with whom he would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on July 8, 2018; sons Dr. Myron Yencha and his wife Vanessa, Wisconsin, Michael Yencha, Wilkes-Barre; daughter Christine Dunleavy and her husband, Mike, Wilkes-Barre; granddaughters,Marie Yencha, Florida, Caroline Yencha, Wisconsin, Ashlynn Dunleavy, Wilkes-Barre; brother Edward Yencha and his wife, Bernice, Wilkes-Barre; sister-in-law Claire Yencha, Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Friday in Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Hudson Road, Plains. Interment with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, at a later date.
