Patrick Rutkoski Obituary

Patrick F. Rutkoski, 69, of Drums, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Kindred Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. Born on November 28, 1942, in Nanticoke, he was a son of the late Frank and Anna Frye Rutkoski. He graduated from the former Newport Township High School, class of 1960, where he played football and baseball. He also graduated from Wilkes College in 1964. Upon graduation, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a decorated Vietnam veteran, ultimately attaining the rank of Major. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal with 2 stars, Combat Action Ribbon and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Prior to retiring in 1982, Mr. Rutkoski was employed by the former RCA Corporation, Mountain Top. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman whose greatest joys in life were spending time with his family and visiting his hunting property and cabin in Tioga County. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends and will live forever in our hearts and memories. Surviving are sons, Scott Rutkoski and his wife, Shawn, Painted Post, N.Y.; and Randy Rutkoski and his wife, Jennifer, Mountain Top; granddaughters, Sydney and Samantha Rutkoski; step-grandson, Jensen Kennoy; fiancée, Barbara Magda, Drums; sister, Patricia Ferlick and her husband, James, Bear Creek; niece, Kimberly Kioske and her husband, Bryan, Mountain Top; nephew, Jeffrey Ferlick, Canadensis, Pa; as well as cousins and friends. Funeral services will begin Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Spirit Parish/St. Adalbert's Church, Glen Lyon. Interment will follow in St. Adalbert's Cemetery, Glen Lyon, with the U.S. Marine Corps providing military honors. Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

To the family of Pat.. our sincere sympathy. We were 3 cousins whose mothers were very close. Trips to Moc were frequent, picnics at area lakes, and holiday gatherings were families enjoyed themselves. May he rest in peace.

Rest in Peace Uncle Pat......I will always cherish my wonderful memories of time spent with a dear Uncle Pat, Cioci Margie, Scott and Randy..... Sunday dinners, summer vacations at the beach and cabin in Potter, holidays, birthdays and I'll never forget how excited Ruthie would get when Uncle Pat and Scott would show up at our house after a day of small game hunting with all those rabbits....So very sorry for your loss guys...xxxoooxxx and many prayers being sent your way.
