On June 16, 2013, Paul Lawrence Vida, 68, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, entered into eternal life with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Paul was born on Jan. 28, 1945, in Nanticoke, Pa., where he was a life-long resident.
After fighting with much dignity and determination, Paul succumbed to his battle with cancer surrounded by loving family at the time of his passing at home.
He was an enthusiastic fisherman and had deep love and appreciation for nature and wildlife. Paul was known as a versatile "jack of all trades" and thoroughly enjoyed creating personal inventions.
Paul was preceded in death by his father and mother, Julius Vida and Eva Tumos Vida, both of Nanticoke, and his brother Jerome "Jerry" Vida of Lakeland, Fla.
Paul is survived by his wife, the former Diana Park Vida, Nanticoke; his brother Edmund Vida and sister-in-law Theresa, both of Nanticoke; daughters, Paulette Vida Halford of Terre Haute, Ind., and Andrea Vida of Edwardsville; son-in-law, James Halford, Terre Haute, Ind.; two loving grandchildren; twin brothers, Blake and Kyle Halford, both of Terre Haute, Ind., and his former wife and friend, Judith Madaj Vida of Edwardsville; and nieces and nephews.
Paul's family would especially like to thank Dr. Glendon Cook of Geisinger Dallas and all the staff at Geisinger Medical Center, Dallas, and Frank & Dorthea Henry Cancer Center, Plains.
A memorial will be held 5 to 9 p.m. June 28 at the Italian American Club, Glen Lyon. Arrangements are by the Grontkowski Funeral Home P.C., 51-53 W. Green St., Nanticoke.
