Rita Bator Obituary

Rita Ann Bator, 76, of Edwardsville, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2009, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late Claude and Esma Davis Mangold and was a graduate of GAR High School. She was formerly employed by Dr. Brown’s Optical Offices, Wilkes-Barre. Rita was a member of St. Ignatius Church, Kingston.
Rita enjoyed her trips to the Atlantic City casinos, playing pokeno and bingo.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and was loved by all. She was the best mom anyone could ask for. She will also be missed by her best friend, Catherine Fischer.
She was preceded in death by brothers Claude, Raymond and Bobby.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Chester L. Bator; children Donna Simerson, Bear Creek; Kathleen Meehan, Wilkes-Barre; Chet Bator, Clarks Summit; and Joanne Shovlin, Harrisburg; grandchildren Rita Lynn Riggs, Michelle Meehan, Tom and Brian Simerson; great-grandchildren Alexander, Rylee and Paul Jr. Riggs; Matthew Simerson; brother Francis Mangold, New Mexico; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Kopicki Funeral Home, 263 Zerbey Avenue, Kingston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius Church. Family and friends are invited to her viewing, Thursday, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the funeral home.

Donna, Kathy and Chet I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what you are going through. Aunt Rita was a special person. She was kind and caring, and she had a contagious laugh and a great sense of humor. I'll never forget her!!!! We all loved her dearly.
