WYOMING — Robert Houck, 87, of Wyoming, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at home.
He was born in Kingston, a son of the late Nathan Houck and Adda Witchey Houck. A graduate of Wyoming High School, class of 1945, he later enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1948, and served in the Korean War as a staff sergeant.
Prior to retirement, he was an assistant manager for Acme Markets for more than 36 years.
He was a former member of Masonic Lodge F&AM 468, the Caldwell Consistory and Irem Temple. He was also very active in the Wyoming Methodist Church, serving as a trustee, a member of the choir, a Sunday school instructor and president of the Men's Club.
In addition to being survived by his wife of 63 years, the former Nancy Nieman, he is also survived by two sons, Dale Houck, Lewes, Delaware, and Lee Houck, Exeter; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Metcalfe-Shaver-Kopcza Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with the Rev. Kenneth H. George officiating. Interment will be in the Mountain View Burial Park, Exeter Township, at the convenience of the family. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Friday.
