Rose Bordick Obituary

March 7, 2010

Rose Georgetti Bordick, 90, passed away peacefully at Riverstreet Manor on Sunday, March 7, 2010. She was born in Cadogan, Pa. (near Pittsburgh), a daughter to Angelo and Josephine Taroli Georgetti, who predeceased her. The family moved to Plains Township when Rose was very young and she has resided there most of her life. During the past 3½ years, Rose was a resident of Riverview Ridge, in Wilkes-Barre, where she was surrounded by a caring staff and many new friends. Rose was married to Marino (Mike) Bordick for 15 years when he was tragically killed in a mining accident on October 25, 1954. As a young widow, Rose made the decision to go to Empire Beauty School, worked as a hairdresser for Isaac Long for several years, then had her own beauty salon in Wilkes-Barre, until 1972, when Rose changed careers entirely and became an assistant to the Plains Township zoning officer until she retired. Rose was predeceased by her brother, Nello Georgetti, and his wife, Mary Georgetti; and her brother, Alfred Georgetti. Rose is survived by her daughter, Vivien Dusko, of Red Bank, N.J.; and son and daughter-in-law, Leroy and Felicia Bordick, of Delmar, N.Y. Rose's beloved son-in-law, Raymond Dusko, predeceased her in 2007. The grandchildren she lived to adore and who loved being adored by her include, Keith Dusko and his wife, Elizabeth, Christian Bordick, Dina Dusko, and Heather Bordick Abraham and her husband, Steven. Towards the end of her life, Rose was blessed with three very special gifts, three precious great-grandchildren, Charles Raymond Dusko, Mae Rose Abraham, and Lilly Duncan Dusko. Rose is survived by her sister, Clara Cinti; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Helen Georgetti, Miners Mills, and Rudolph and Jennie Georgetti, Plains; her sisters-in-law, Antoinette Stella and Flora Angeli; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Exeter. Family and friends are invited to go directly to the church. Interment will be held at Italian Independent Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross, 256 N. Sherman St., Wilkes-Barre, or to the Ronald McDonald House, 332 Wheeler Ave., Scranton. Arrangements are by the Corcoran Funeral Home, 20 S. Main St., Plains.
