SHICKSHINNY — Rosemarie Yurkoski, 83, of Southdale Road, Shickshinny, died July 15, 2014, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born April 3, 1931, in Edwardsville, she was a daughter of the late Alex and Mary (Kerrick) Vroblefski.

She was a graduate of Edwardsville High School, class of 1949, then went on to work at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital as a switchboard operator. She married and began a family with Joseph, her beloved husband. While raising her seven children she also assisted her husband with the family businesses, one being the "Kool-Kup" in Shickshinny and Orangeville, for more than 30 years.

Rosie enjoyed collecting old hats, dancing, especially with her husband, music, using her player piano, spending time with her family, upholstering, canning, cooking and sharing her homemade food, such as horseradish, pierogies and especially her homemade bread.

Preceding her in death were her daughter, Rosemarie Yurkoski; two brothers, Alex and Albert; and two sisters, Mary Hera and Helen Wisnewski.

Surviving are her devoted husband of 58 years, Joseph A. Yurkoski; two sons, Joseph Yurkoski Jr. and his wife, Kathleen, Hunlock Creek, Vincent Yurkoski, Casper, Wyoming; four daughters, Veronica Yurkoski, Long Pond, Maria Dorshefski and her husband, Stan, Huntington Mills, Rita Anthony and her husband, Clint, Columbus, Ohio, Ann Seward and her husband, Michael, Berwick; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Zaxton, Pierce, River and John; and one sister, Rita Vroblefski, Edwardsville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Holy Spirit Parish/St. Mary's Church, Main Street, Mocanaqua, with the Rev. Louis Kaminski, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Ascension Cemetery, Mocanaqua.
