KINGSTON — Ruth Hayward Clemons, 82, of ManorCare in Kingston and former longtime resident of South Welles Street in Wilkes-Barre, entered into eternal rest on Saturday evening, Nov. 16, 2013 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born April 4, 1931 in Kingston, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Bertha Sprow Hayward. Ruth was a member of the Parish of Our Lady of Fatima and a communicant at the Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Her husband, Larry Clemons, died in 1988. Brothers Robert, Donald, Raymond and Walter Hayward and a sister, Shirley Hayward, also preceded her in death.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Mary Ann Clemons of Wilkes-Barre, Larry and his wife Jerri Clemons of Hanover Township, and Joseph, Michael and James Clemons of Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Kelli and Matthew Clemons and Ryan Richards; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ruth's entire family is grateful to the staff of ManorCare and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for their compassionate care.
Celebration of Ruth's life will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at McLaughlin's - The Family Funeral Service, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, with funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McLaughlin's.
