Shirley Cooper Teal, of Edwardsville, passed away Thursday morning, July 12, 2012 at Manor Care in Kingston, with her family at her side.
Shirley was born March 8, 1926 in Wilkes-Barre to Roger and Maude King Cooper. She was a graduate of the Philadelphia School for the Deaf and attended Wyoming Seminary Business School of Kingston.
Shirley was a charter member of the Wilkes-Barre Society of the Deaf, having served as an officer for many years. Shirley accepted Jesus as her Savior in 1989 and followed in Christian Baptism at the Westmoor Church of Christ.
Besides her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, James; sisters, Marjorie Griffiths, Mildred Jones; and brothers, Miles and Donald.
Shirley is survived by stepchildren, Laura Nevolas, Swoyersville; Nancy Beyer, Kingston; Barry Teal, Plymouth; nephews, John Griffiths and Thomas Griffiths, Virginia; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with other nephews, nieces and cousins.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Manor Care, especially those who took the time to not only meet Shirley's physical needs, but went the extra mile to learn her language and make her laugh and feel loved. God bless you all.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 3 p.m. at the Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with the Rev Daniel Miller, Pastor of Back Mountain Harvest Assembly, Trucksville, officiating. Interment will be private at Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas.
Friends may call on Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
