Dr. Theodore L. Piczak

Dr. Theodore L. Piczak, age 90, of Plymouth, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening, Jan. 8, 2013 at Hospice Community Care, Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.

Born April 17, 1922 in Plymouth, he was a son of the late Vincent and Julia Sliwa Piczak.

He was a graduate of Plymouth High School, and received his bachelor of science degree from Wilkes College and graduated from Temple University, School of Podiatric Medicine. He later opened a doctor's office in Kingston, where he practiced medicine for over 40 years.

Dr. Piczak was a U.S. Air Corps veteran serving during World War II, where he served as an airplane engine mechanic. He was a member of the American Legion Post 463 of Plymouth and the VFW Shawnee Post 1425, Plymouth.

He was the last surviving member of his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Irene Bolesta, who passed away in 1983; brothers, Edward, Adolph, Frank, Ben, Walter and Chester Piczak; sisters, Mary Wolak and Sylvia Giovannini; and dear friend, Ann Pambianco.

Surviving are his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Parish, 66 Willow St., Plymouth.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Nativity Cemetery, Plymouth Township. Family and friends may call Friday evening, 6 until 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice Community Care, Geisinger South, 50 Roosevelt Terrace, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702 in Dr. Piczak's name.
