WILKES-BARRE — Thomas Paul McHugh, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away suddenly Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, just three days before his 50th birthday.

Born Jan. 5, 1964, in Frackville, Pa., he was the son of the late Thomas and Jewel (Malloy) McHugh of Wilkes-Barre. He graduated from Bishop Hoban High School, class of 1982, and received an associate's degree in data processing technology from Luzerne County Community College in 1984. Since 1996, Tom worked for McDonald's on Route 309 in Wilkes-Barre Township.

Tom is survived by his cousins, Kevin McHugh, Langhorne, Pa.; Ron McHugh, Alexandria, Va.; Romayne Bosak, Wilkes-Barre; and James Gilbride, Miami, Fla. Tom had a significant number of friends, whom he loved and thought very highly of. Tom always had a smile and a hug for his friends and as a Facebook friend posted – Tommy touched more peoples' lives than he could ever have imagined. He will be deeply missed by all.

Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday conducted by the Rev. Joseph Kearney, pastor of St. Benedict's Church, Wilkes-Barre.
