William Tabone Obituary

William Leonard Tabone, of San Jose Calif., entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 10, 2009.
He was born Feb. 7, 1945, in Pittston, a son of the late Peter and Jeanne Tabone. He earned his first academic diploma from Miss Smile’s Kindergarten in Pittston. He proceeded to St. John the Evangelist School for grades 1st through 8th. During those years, he enjoyed his service as an altar server and as an active Boy Scout.
He was a 1962 graduate of West Pittston High School. Majoring in Chemistry at the University of Scranton, Bill served as president of the chemistry club and graduated in 1966.
In 1969, he graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University, with a Master’s in Business Administration, (MBA).
Bill’s gift was in music. He was inspired and influenced by his musical mother and his piano instructor, Geno Bartolai of Pittston. During Bill’s high school and college years, his name was synonymous with piano, and his repertoire included all genres of music.
Bill had a strong work ethic and began caddying at age 13. During his summer vacations in Wildwood, N.J., he enjoyed working at theater candy concessions. (He often bragged that he saw The King and I 27 times).
At age 17, he began part-time employment at the Pittston Lumber and continued through college. He also instructed eager high school chemistry students during his undergraduate education.
His professional portfolio began in the Defense Intelligence Agency in Washington.
In 1969, Bill’s career with Inmont’s Chemical Division began. Making a transition into sales and relocating with his family to the UK, Bill held numerous management positions, culminating as executive managing director of Inmont Inc. Spain Operation, Barcelona.
He later served as managing director of Michelman Inc. European Operation based in Luxemburg. He also served as manager for Fusion Inc. European Distribution Operation.
From 2002, Bill’s career was U.S. based. He joined Morgan Stanley as a personal financial adviser in California.
Bill traveled extensively during his retirement. He was well versed in domestic and international travel and enjoyed sharing his experiences.
He worked out daily in the mild California climate that he enjoyed so much.
Bill’s Legacy would be his love of family and friends. His crowns of achievement were his two boys, Justin and Gavin. Bill’s devotion to his mother during her later years was unsurpassed. He was a true family patriarch and was always there to help whenever needed.
Bill served wherever he was needed and in any capacity in organizations in which his children were affiliated, while living in New Jersey.
He also participated for several years in the Fresh Air Kids Program, hosting an inner city child at his family home.
Throughout his life, Bill was surrounded by wonderful neighbors, family and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Jeanne and Peter Tabone; grandparents, Nora and Patrick Sammon, Leonard and Pompen Tabone.
Bill’s surviving immediate families include, Justin and Daniela Tabone, Gavin and Atty. Danielle Tierney, Carol Ann and Frank Serino, Marijo Tabone, Emil and Carol Tabit, Corey Tabit, M.D., PJ Tabit, Fred and Carole Serino, Nicholas Serino and Danielle Serino.
Bill’s extended family include members living and deceased from the following families, Abel, Aritz, Barbera, Carroll, Chesavage, Cumbo, DeNardi, Delicati, Groark, McCracken, Sammon, Serino, Stuccio, Tabone, Vanchiere, Vullo. His godparents were the late Miriam Carroll and Charles Adonizio.
We thank all who accompanied him on his life’s journey.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 26, 2009, at St. Mary’s of Assumption Church, Carroll Street in Pittston, PA. A luncheon will immediately follow the memorial service.
Cremation was preformed at Bay Area Mortuary Services, San Jose, CA. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery and will be held at the convenience of the family.

Dear Tabone family and extended family,

We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to all of you in this difficult time. We were neighbors of Mr. Tabone in Campbell for years, but recently moved to another apartment in the same complex. To our surprise yesterday we were asked by common friends about Mr. Tabone and rumors that he had passed away. After asking around, going to his apartment and searching the internet we finally found this web page. We are shocked and saddened by learning of him passing away. Mr. Tabone was a very kind and pleasant man, and both my wife and I have fond memories of the conversations we had with him. Like ourselves, a few acquaintances and friends he made in Campbell would like to know what happened to him. My e-mail is [email protected].

Again our deepest condolences to all of you. We will be praying for him tonight.
