JENKINS TWP. — Virginia Theresa Medd, 90, of Jenkins Township, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at the United Methodist Homes Wesley Village Campus, Jenkins Township.
Born in Philadelphia, Virginia was a daughter of the late John and Katherine Savage Siegel. She was educated in the Philadephia school system.
Virginia was formerly employed as a medical assistant for the late Dr. Kerr. She was a Pink Lady at General Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, and also volunteered for an area AIDS hospice.
She was very active in her husband's ministry at First Baptist Church, Wilkes-Barre, and the Baptist Tabernacle, Wilkes-Barre. Virginia currently attended Second Presbyterian Church, Pittston.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband of nearly 69 years, the Rev. Henry Medd III; sons, Donald John and Kenneth Paul Medd; brothers, Raymond and Jack Siegel.
Surviving are son, Steven Keith Medd and his wife, Dawn, Philadelphia; granddaughter, Lisa Spilner and her husband, Robin, Philadelphia; grandsons, Benjamin Medd and his wife, Diana, East Bridgewater, Mass., and Te Yin Tseng, Philadelphia; great-grandson, Henry Spilner; and great-granddaughter, Donna Medd.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. March 15 from the Second Presbyterian Church, 143 Parsonage St., Pittston. The Rev. Davis S. Brague will officiate. Friends may call from noon until the time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, 190 S. Sprague Ave., Kingston, PA 18704; or Habitat for Humanity, 8 W. Market St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
