PITTSTON — Robert Charney, a resident of Pittston, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014, at the Celtic Hospice Inpatient Care Unit, Wilkes-Barre.

Born Oct. 13, 1934, in West Wyoming, he was a son of the late Anna (Mehal) and John Charney.

Robert was a proud member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.

Robert's family would also like to thank the nurses and staff of Celtic Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre for the kindness, care and compassion they showed Bob.

He is preceded in death by a brother, John Charney.

He is survived by spouse, Mary (Loquasto) Charney; daughters, Adele and her husband, John Leonard, and Susan her husband, Jerry Grohowski; granddaughter, Emily Leonard; sister, Theresa DeAngelo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Viewing hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Pittston Township. Funeral services with military honors by the AMVETS Honor Guard of Dupont will be held on Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Marello Parish. Those who plan on attending the funeral should go directly to the church. Robert will be laid to rest in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Pittston Township.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's name to Celtic Hospice & Home Health, Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre, 25 Church St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
