HAZLETON — Anna G. Matteo, 80 of Hazleton, passed away at home Thursday night, April 10, 2014, following her courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Born in Lattimer, she was a daughter of the late William and Helen (Patskan) Generose.
Following her retirement from Sentinel Electronics, she spent years working for the Hazleton Blind Association, prior to her cancer diagnosis in 2011. She enjoyed a rich and wonderful life and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
In addition to her mother and father, Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Matteo.
Surviving are her sons, Joseph L. Matteo Jr., Wilkes-Barre, and William J. Matteo, Haymarket, Va.; sisters and brothers, Mary Gross and Helen Brill, Lattimer, Rose Molinaro and her husband, Maurice, Hazleton, William and his wife, Cathy, Baltimore, Robert and his wife, Patsy, Lattimer, Martha Kolarick and her husband, Robert, Hazle Township, and Jane Popiak, Drums; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday from the Fierro Funeral Home, 26 W. Second St., Hazleton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Queen of Heaven Parish at Our Lady of Grace Church. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
