WILKES-BARRE — Marion Williams, of the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2014, at the Commonwealth Hospice Inpatient Unit at St. Luke's Villa, Wilkes-Barre.
She was born Dec. 13, 1919, in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late Byron and Emma Cragle Andrews.
A graduate of Coughlin High School, she assisted her husband in the operation of the Joseph B. Williams Coal and Fuel Co. Mrs. Williams was a member of the Baptist Tabernacle Church and had previously been a member of the Parsons Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Parsons Women's Club and also participated in the church bowling leagues.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph B. Williams, to whom she was married 64 years; sons Joseph Lester Williams and Richard Benjamin Williams; sisters, Marjorie Koerber, Leitha O'Brien, Ruth McConeghey; brother, Raymond Andrews.
Surviving are her daughter, Judith Williams, and her husband, Wayne, Wilkes-Barre; son Robert J. Williams and his wife, Doris, Bear Creek; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday from E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Richard McIntyre, pastor of Baptist Tabernacle Church. Interment will be in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
