WARRIOR RUN — Edward H. Hendrzak, 81, of Warrior Run, passed away April 27, 2014, at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Oct. 1, 1932, a son of the late John and Julia Rokosz Hendrzak.
He graduated from Marymount High School and Wilkes-Barre Business College and was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, serving from 1953 to 1957.
He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service. Upon retirement, he operated Field Goal Sports with his son.
He was a caring father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their many activities. He had an outgoing and generous personality.
He was involved with the former Holy Rosary Church, Ashley, and was a coach and former president of the Warrior Run Little League.
He was a member of St. Leo's/Holy Rosary Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Sandy Tomko Hendrzak; sister, Bernadine Rydsewicz; and brother, John Hendrzak.
Surviving is his daughter, Pam Quaglia and her husband, Kevin; son, Edward K. Hendrzak; four grandchildren, Connor, Kalie, Cody and Luke; sister, Eleanor Pliscott; brothers, Bernard and Richard Hendrzak; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services with military honors will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday from the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Leo's/Holy Rosary Church. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 8:30 to services Thursday.
